RESIDENTIAL LIGHTING DESIGN

2019-2022

During my Industrial Design education I enrolled for the engineering intelligent lighting program. In this program I learned light as both the physical and biological domain. Moreover, this program showed me how to design a lighting plan. I was fortunate to put my knowledge into practice and learn hands-on what it takes to design a lighting plan for a house.

There are a lot of factors to consider when designing a lighting plan. One must first analyze the functionality of the room and research national guidelines. Afterwards, you start developing the concept in an iterative process where you engage the client. Visualizing possible plans and create 3D simulations to give the client a better understanding of the concept.  In the end, the enthusiasm of the clients made me proud of the work I have done. However, after a couple of projects I felt like graphic design and in particular livery design was more up my street.
